Artist Statement

The idea behind this photo is how opposites attract in a relationship. I struggled with a way to represent this that was not cliche such as my first idea which was going to show a nerdy girl and a football player in a relationship. I then thought about how some people are dog people and some are cat people and decided to use that idea in my photo. My photo shows how the girl holding her cat is a cat person while the guy with his dog is a dog person and they are still happy in their relationship.

 

It was a challenge at first to take this photo and I actually ended up having to reshoot it. The first photos I took were very blurry because of the type of lens I was using and the lack of light. Also since I was taking pictures of animals as well as people it was hard to keep them still. When I reshot my photos turned out a lot better. I left the editing on this photo pretty simple because I think the original photo itself already looked good.

 

I like how this photo turned out because it makes people happy when they look at it. Both of the characters are smiling and the pets add to this mood of happiness. This photo shows people how when in a relationship it can be good to like different things than your partner because it adds balance.
